Repair Shop Report / Locator
The Repair Shop Report (RSR) provides an indication of a shop’s ability to diagnose and repair vehicles that have not passed the emissions test. Each shop listed has a repair effectiveness percentage associated with it that represents their track record in repairing emissions systems successfully. The repair effectiveness percentage is based on the emissions repair data required to be entered online by repair shops that want to be included in the RSR. This data, and the effectiveness of the repair, is validated when a vehicle comes in for a retest: does the vehicle pass the emissions retest or not? The repair effectiveness percentage is calculated by dividing the total number of successful emissions-related repairs by the total number of emissions-related repairs made by the shop. Note: the repair shop must have performed a minimum of five (5) emissions-related repairs within the last six (6) months.
The RSR provides a list of known repair shops and their address, as well as a summary of their performance over the immediately preceding six-month period. A condensed version of the RSR listing a limited number of repair shops within a five (5) mile radius of the location of the testing station where the test was performed is provided on all failing Vehicle Inspection Reports (VIRs) and on VIRs issued to vehicles who are rejected from testing due to readiness.
